Ad Regions, sometimes referred to as Ad Positions, are where your Banner Ads will be placed on the page.
Regions usually have a three-part name, indicating type, size, and location. Examples would include fixed-big-ad-top or block-leaderboard-bottom.
BEST PRACTICE: Ad region names can be customized to be anything you wish, however it is recommended that you standardize your naming conventions to make them easier to identify on the page, for both you and your advertisers.
Ad region types are one of two kinds, Fixed and Block-based. Fixed ad regions are just that, they are locked into place on the page and cannot be moved. Block-based regions work like other blocks on your site. You can drag and drop the block into any block region on the page, essentially turning your whole site into one giant ad spot.
NOTE: Because blocks can be moved, that means there is not a static ad map. Many sites simply place their blocks on the page where they want them and never move them again, mimicking a static map.
BLOX ad regions are based on width. As long as your ad is the same size, or smaller, than the region you want to display it in, it will show. If the ad is too wide, even by a pixel, it will not be giving to you as an option to select. However, since there are no height requirements, in theory you could place a 160x600 skyscraper ad into a 728x90 leaderboard region and it will display.
