404 page: Used to notify someone on the site that the item they are searching for cannot be found
Lazy Load: A process that allows pages to load quicker by not calling for images until they appear on the screen. This applies to all image types including PDFs, business logos, e-Editions, and video assets that can't be turned off.Â
Content creators/Asset
Asset: A piece of content on your site
Application Settings: A pop-out panel that allows you to control secondary aspects of content
Canonical URL: The link back to the story’s original site
Child assets: Any asset that is attached to the primary asset (ex. A photo to an article)
Collection: An asset you can place other assets inside of (ex. Photo galleries)
Cover art: An image that appears behind the headline of an article, giving a more dynamic look
Display priority: A numerical way to organize your content. These are ordered 100-1 with 100 being top priority
DRM policies: Digital Rights Management that allows you to set copyright protection for your content
File (Asset): Any document that is not a BLOX asset (ex. Microsoft Excel spreadsheet)
Flags: Markers used to highlight content to your site visitors or to control the placement of assets
Geolocations: Keywords that are geographically based
Keywords: Terms that allow search engines to find your content more efficiently
Parent assets: The primary asset in a package, usually the article
Sibling assets: Assets that appear in a series

Source Application: The application in which the asset was created
Teaser image: A preview image used when no photo asset is associated with an article
URL title: A field that allows you to overwrite the system generated URL
Value-added content: Advertorial content added to your site, usually to help drive revenue
Content Managers/Blocks
Block: A container on your site that holds content and information
Breakpoint/Viewport sizes: The screen size of the device that is being used to view the site. Usually defined as Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, and Phone.
Inheritance: A principle that allows a block to be set up once and transfer its information to the sections below
Query Rule: The mechanism used by BLOX to determine what content is shown within a block
Region: A space on your site that holds blocks
Content Manages/User Accounts
Administrator: Anyone with BLOX back-end access
Administrators: A subset of Administrator users that have access to all of BLOX applications. Often called Super Users
Content Managers/e-Edition
Cutout: An asset that pops out of an e-Edition page
Orphaned pages: Pages that have been separated from their main edition
Publication: A digital version of a print edition. There can be multiple publications on a site
Segments: The way to connect the text in the PDF to the Article asset
Zone: A way to break up editions or covers by coverage area
Community Engagement/Access Control
Access Control Message: Text that allows you to communicate with your site’s visitors when they encounter the paywall.
Access Criteria:Â Pieces that can be used to allow or deny access to content on your site.
Access Method Group:Â A way to check to see if a site visitor can view restricted content on your site.
Anonymous user:Â A casual visitor to your site who is not logged in.
Brand Lover:Â A logged-in non-subscriber with 16 or more visits per month.
DMP Audience:Â Segments of users identified by certain characteristics or past behaviors, such as Brand Lovers, Loyal Readers, or Registered Users.
Funnel:Â The phases of the user journey, starting with anonymous, to registered, to becoming a paid subscribers.
Offer Builder: A marketing tool within Access Control that allows you to customize what appears on the Audience+ paywall. You can target offers (subscription deals) to specific audiences and customize each message for maximum impact.
Loyal user:Â A site visitor who is not logged in nor has a subscription but visits between six and 16 times per month.
Referrer:Identifies the source of traffic for a user, such as social media.
Registered user:Â A site visitor that has created an account.
Subscriber:Â A site visitor that has paid for access to restricted content.
User-Agent:Â Access criteria for mobile visitors.
Community Engagement/Email Reach
Anonymous sign up: This option allows the public to subscribe only using their email address
Campaigns: The frequency at which newsletters are delivered
Contacts: The people subscribed to a list
Internal ID: A unique identifier that connects BLOX to Constant Contact

Authorization only mode: A way to authorize payments instead of capturing the funds
Binding: The act of associating a user account on the front end of the site with a customer record

Domain: A way to allow access based on an email address
Error threshold: The number of subscribers that can be turned over at any given time, expressed as a percentage

Service Deleted: A service that was once offered but has been removed. The customer records that belong to the service remain
