Does BLOX CMS support “WebP”?
Yes. The BLOX CMS platform delivers WebP image file formats as part of our front-end image optimization which occurs through our Content Delivery Network (CDN). WebP format is much more efficient than other formats, like PNGs or JPEGs, and files tend to be 30% or more smaller without a loss of image quality.
All BLOX CMS and Rayos Platform sites implement image optimization. It does not need to be enabled on a per site basis.
Do all browsers support “WebP”?
Not all browsers support WebP at this time. Our CDN network will detect when these browsers are in use and will revert to standard image file formats that are supported.
Why can’t I right-click and save “WebP” images?
If you right-click and attempt to save an image from your website, the browser will fetch the original raw file rather than the WebP format. So, this is not an accurate way to determine if your site is using image optimization.
If you view “Chrome DevTools,” and look at the “Network” tab, then filter for “Img,” then sort by “type” you’ll likely see many webp formats delivered for your site.
Will this affect TotalCMS?
This is just an optimization between our CDN and the browsers – TotalCMS should not be affected.
