This article describes how to publish a video to BLOX VMS via FTP.
For customers that have a workflow that requires use of FTP file transferring of videos, BLOX VMS offers a managed FTP service. (Note: this is different from any BLOX CMS FTP services you may have with your BLOX CMS site). Please contact customer support to discuss your needs.
Once an FTP location is configured, credentials will be provided to an authorized account contact. You can use these credentials in your FTP client or system of choice. Popular clients include Cyberduck and Filezilla.
BLOX VMS will check the FTP location for presence of new videos to import. The following configuration options are available for this process:
Account: If you are part of a group, you can decide in which BLOX VMS account we will store the video. If you have a single account, that will be set.
Title: By default, it will use the title of the binary video file (without the file extension) as the title of the imported asset. For example, a video file called "MyVideo.mp4" will populate in BLOX VMS with a title of "MyVideo". You can edit titles as needed in BLOX VMS after the ftp file import completes. Alternatively, a static title can be set that will be used for every file imported from the FTP location. Example: "Today's Weather Forecast"
Category: Sets the BLOX VMS category (default: news)
Keywords: Sets any keywords that will be applied to all videos brought in from the FTP location.
Frequency: How often BLOX VMS should check the FTP location for new files. Default is 15 minutes, minimum is 5.
Once your FTP location is configured, connect using your client and add a video. If your setup includes subfolders, be sure to select the correct subfolder. Once BLOX VMS finds the video, it will automatically move it out of the folder for you without further action.
